What is a P4 outdoor SMD screen?
A P4 outdoor SMD screen has pixels 4 mm apart – 62,500 pixels per square metre. It is the finest common pitch for permanent outdoor screens and is used where people pass close by: shop fronts, building entrances, petrol stations and drive-throughs.
Each 320 × 160 mm module carries 80 × 40 pixels. Outdoor builds add weather protection and much higher brightness for Pakistan’s heat, dust and sun.
How far away should viewers be?
A simple rule: the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is about the pixel pitch in millimetres. For P4 that is about 4 m (13.1 ft), and the picture keeps looking good out to about 40 m.
If the nearest viewers are 5 m or more away – across a road, for example – P5 gives more screen for the budget.
Resolution: how many pixels do you get?
